Frequently Asked Questions
Direct answers about Valiant, idle MMORPGs, free-to-play policy, and how a persistent browser world actually works.
What is an idle MMO?
An idle MMO is a massively multiplayer online RPG where progress continues while you're away. Instead of demanding hours of active grinding, the game world resolves on a timer — in Valiant's case, every 15 minutes — and your character carries out the orders you set: fighting, gathering, or crafting. You log in to make the meaningful decisions: which build to run, which loot to keep, what to trade, who to group with. It's the depth of an MMO at the pace of real life.
How is an idle MMO different from a regular MMORPG?
A traditional MMORPG rewards time spent at the keyboard; an idle MMO rewards the quality of your decisions. In Valiant there are no reaction-based mechanics — combat resolves from your stats, talents, gear, and party composition. The strategy happens between sessions: theorycrafting builds, comparing affixes, planning dungeon parties. You can be a competitive player in 20 minutes a day.
Can I play an idle MMO in my browser without downloading anything?
Yes — Valiant runs entirely in your web browser on desktop or mobile. There is no client to download, no installer, and no patch days. Create an account at valiantmmo.com and you're playing in about a minute.
Is Valiant free to play?
Yes. The full game — every zone, class, talent, dungeon, and item — is free. There is no purchase required at any point to progress.
Is Valiant pay-to-win?
No, and this is a hard design rule: nothing for sale touches competitive integrity. Optional purchases are convenience and cosmetics — extra character slots and stash tabs. You cannot buy power, items, experience, or progression speed. The line exists because we're building a game where leaderboard results mean something.
How long are Valiant's idle ticks?
The world resolves every 15 minutes. Each tick your deployed characters fight encounters, gather materials, advance crafts, and bank loot and experience. While you're offline, up to 8 hours of ticks accumulate — so a working day or a night's sleep never wastes your character's time.
Does Valiant have guilds and multiplayer?
Yes. Valiant is a true multiplayer world: found or join guilds (with applications, officers, and moderated guild chat), trade with other players on the market, group up so the idle tick resolves you as a party formation, and run the daily Descent dungeon in five-player teams. There's also a friend system, direct messages, and a social feed of the world's notable moments.
Are there idle games with deep loot like Path of Exile or Diablo?
Valiant was built to be exactly that. Items roll per-instance rarity, prefix and suffix affixes from a 72-affix catalog with quality tiers, named unique effects, socketed inscriptions, and upgrade levels across 20 equipment slots — with 100+ legendaries in zone-specific drop pools. If your favorite part of an ARPG is reading item tooltips, you'll feel at home.
What is a PBBG (persistent browser-based game)?
PBBG stands for persistent browser-based game: a game world that exists and evolves continuously on a server, playable from any web browser, where your progress persists between sessions. Valiant is a PBBG in the classic tradition — one shared world, always turning, no download.
What platforms can I play Valiant on?
Any device with a modern web browser: Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iPhone. Your account is the same everywhere — set your characters' orders from your phone at lunch, review the battle reports on your desktop at night.
How many classes does Valiant have?
7 base classes — Vanguard, Warden, Oracle, Sentinel, Arbiter, Artisan, and Pathfinder — each evolving at level 20 into one of two specializations (14 total), from the dread knight to the beastmaster. Each specialization has its own 9-talent grid with 5 ranks per talent and a distinct role in party formations.
What happens while I'm offline?
Your deployed characters keep executing orders: fighting encounters (including rare mobs and world bosses), gathering materials, progressing crafts, and earning companion experience. Results accumulate in an idle bank you collect when you return — along with a written battle report of what happened, including anything legendary.
Is Valiant in alpha? Will my progress be wiped?
Valiant is in open alpha — live, playable, and updated weekly. We don't plan progression wipes; one early item-stat rebalance may re-roll affix values on existing gear (your items, levels, and unlocks stay). Any change like that is announced in patch notes and Discord first.
Does Valiant have raids or PvP?
Not yet — and we'd rather tell you that here than let you discover it. Raids (designed as configuration warfare: bring the right builds, not the fastest reflexes) and Conquest (guild-versus-guild territory control) are the two pillars on the public roadmap, in that order. The systems they build on — talents, formations, guilds, the Descent — are live today.
