How Idle Works
What is a tick?
A tick is one 15-minute step of the game world, driven by the server (not your browser). On a combat expedition, each tick resolves roughly four encounters — rolling damage, loot, and XP — and deposits the results into your idle bank. Because it's server-side, ticks happen whether or not the game is open.
Sessions & duration
When you deploy, you choose how long the expedition runs: 15 minutes to 8 hours, in 15-minute increments. A longer session means more banked before you need to return; a shorter one suits frequent check-ins. Either way, you can open the game at any time to resolve progress immediately rather than waiting for the next scheduled tick.
Offline progress & the 8-hour cap
Valiant banks up to 32 ticks — a full 8 hours — of offline progress. Sleep, work, a long day out: your character keeps earning. Accumulation pauses once the bank hits 8 hours, so the ideal rhythm is to check in roughly every 8 hours, collect, and send your character back out.
| Fact | Value |
|---|---|
| Tick length | 15 minutes |
| Encounters per combat tick | ~4 |
| Minimum expedition | 15 minutes |
| Maximum expedition | 8 hours |
| Offline bank cap | 8 hours (32 ticks) |
Collecting & the battle report
Nothing enters your inventory until you collect. Collecting flushes the bank — loot to your bag, materials to your shared bank, gold to your account — and produces a Session Report narrating what happened, including any rare or legendary drops. Collect & Repeat claims and immediately re-launches the same expedition in one tap.
