The Descent

The Descent is Valiant's daily endless dungeon: one key a day, a five-player party, and waves that climb forever with a boss every fifth wave. How deep you go is pure preparation — party synergy and boss modifiers decide it, not reflexes.

Keys & parties

Each character gets one key per day (reset midnight UTC). A party has five seats filled by any mix of real players and NPC mercenaries. NPCs stand in at 80% of the party's average power and contribute nothing to synergy — so real teammates who cover your gaps are always better than a merc.

Note

Running the Descent doesn't interrupt your idle progress. A copy of your character descends while the original keeps adventuring — the daily run is pure upside.

Waves, bosses & brackets

Waves escalate in level without end; a boss appears every 5th wave. The run ends when your party fails a wave — your deepest wave cleared is your score. Which bracket you run is set by your party's level:

Party synergy

The Descent reads your party's talent categories — survivability / damage / sustain — against per-tier thresholds and applies up to a ±30% swing to boss difficulty (each category can shift it ±10 points). Meet the thresholds and bosses get easier; ignore a category and they get harder. NPC mercenaries add nothing here, which is why coordinated real parties push deepest.

Boss modifiers

Each boss rolls 3 modifiers from a pool of 12. Every modifier your party satisfies makes the boss easier; every one you don't makes it harder. Two runs of the same depth can feel very different depending on the roll — reading the modifiers and knowing when to push or bank is the skill of the mode.

Sigils & The Keeper

You earn Sigils per wave (more from bosses), split among the real players on collect. Spend them at The Keeper, who gambles a chosen slot for a random-rarity item (rare 50% / named 40% / legendary 10% — never a common):

Leaderboards & the Hall of Fame

Runs are ranked by deepest wave, then fastest time. Each day the per-bracket top 10 is archived, and those finishes accumulate in a permanent Hall of Fame. Get in early and your name can sit on those first pages that latecomers will never dislodge.
